For example, you can perform weight lifting at any phase of your cycle, it’s just a matter of performing low, moderate, or high-intensity weight lifting. This goes for any type of exercise! Since we know estrogen has protective effects, it would make the most sense to perform high-intensity exercise when estrogen is on the rise. However, don’t forget that progesterone acts as an anti-estrogen. So if both estrogen and progesterone are high as seen in the mid-luteal phase, progesterone technically “cancels out” the high level of estrogen.
What we do know is that eccentric exercise, as compared to concentric and isometric exercise, might elicit a greater effect on physical health, including, an increase in inflammatory response, increase in delayed onset muscles soreness (DOMS), decrease in limb girth, decrease in range of motion, and loss of muscle strength.
